Kava Extract (30% kavalactones)

Aqueous extract of the lateral roots of noble strains of Fijian kava plants (also known as kava-kava or awa). It contains a kavalactone content on 30%.

One way of preparation is to use just enough water to fully dissolve the extract and down it like a shot. This is almost tasteless and your mouth may go numb. This numbing effect is less pronounced in an extract since the kavalactones barely touch your mouth; this isn't a sign of inactivity.

It is also possible to prepare it in a cold drink like juice but it will not all dissolve and there'll be some big lumps of resin at the bottom of the cup which would float in a thin layer on top of a traditional water extraction.

This extract s not meant to be prepared in the traditional way since the concentrated kavalactone resin has already been released - no need for kneading! It is resinous enough to be quite sticky.

The effects last approximately an hour or two. Pinning down the correct dose of kavalactones is hard but 250/300mg may be a good place to start for noticeable anxiety relief, 3 times per day. This is equivalent to roughly 1 gram of our extract. Bear in mind this is the "recommended starter dose" from trials conducted in the last century and was determined sufficient to achieve the desired pharmacological effect of anxiety reduction. A more realistic dose as used in the Pacific would be between 20g and 50g of dried root. This is between 2g and 5g of our extract.

Start here and since there is no records of a lethal amount you can safely increase it. It is advisable to wait 30 to 60 minutes before redosing. If you decide to start higher it is unlikely to cause dangerous effects other than dizziness and sleepiness.
