β-Phenyl-γ-aminobutyric acid, usually known as Phenibut, is an analogue of the naturally occurring neurotransmitter GABA, which slows the speed of neuronal transmission. This molecule acts as a GABAB receptor agonist, which increases the effectiveness of GABA in the brain. Smaller amounts will also slightly increase dopamine concentration. It was famously developed for use by Russian astronauts to help them stay calm and think clearly. This was during a period of intense Soviet experimentation with GABA derivatives - there are plenty more and there are a handful of promising molecules - most are simply unavailable now.

This is the free acid of phenibut, where only the phenibut molecule is present, rather than the more common hydrochloride salt where the additional hydrogen and carbon atoms add to the total weight of the sample. This means FAA is more potent by weight; 1000mg of HCl is roughly equivalent to 850mg FAA. Potency by weight should not be confused with differences in mechanism of action or receptor affinity and the fundamental effect on the brain of both forms is identical. However, it is claimed that when absorbed through mucous membranes (which are present under the tongue, on the gums and in the nasal passages), it is almost 2 times more potent (1000mg HCl = 600mg FAA). Phenibut HCl is very acidic and will damage these sensitive tissues, while Phenibut FAA is more neutral in pH and relatively tasteless allowing it to be used in this way. β-(4-Fluorophenyl)-γ-aminobutyric acid is another analogue of the naturally occurring neurotransmitter GABA. It acts as a GABAB receptor agonist. It is chemically related to our other products but far more potent. Currently, not much is known about the pharmacology of this compound other than comparing it to its' better studied relatives. The neurological effects are broadly the same to Phenibut, but different enough that it should be treated entirely differently. 250mg can cause profound sedation in some people (though others may be able to tolerate much more) and should be considered the maximum for initial experiments.
